Event: Don’t Cut Me Out at Copeland Book Market – Sat Aug 1st

July 29, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

A new project for Miniclick, Don’t Cut Me Out is a response to the effects of government cuts in arts and education. The project will combine video, print, and collage works alongside a series of talks intended to inspire creativity within the community – to give people a voice. The first incarnation of DCMO will be at Copeland Book Market 2015. We’ll be making short videos with volunteers which will later be made into flip books to form part of a […]

Talk: Tom Hunter and Rosaline Shahnavaz – Weds 8th July

June 4, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

Another new series of talks from Miniclick, where we present discussions between teachers, or mentors, and pupils. The new series will present various parings of people at different stages in their careers, and look at the ways they have taught each other and continue to do so, and the relationships that spring up out of these partnerships. We’re very pleased to say that Rosaline Shahnavaz and her former tutor, Tom Hunter will be the first pairing! +++ Wednesday 08th July. Doors at 6pm, kicks off at […]

Event: A Common Origin – Tues 16th June, 2015

May 20, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

Something we’re really keen on at Miniclick is experimenting with the ways in which photography can exist outside of ‘the photography bubble’. With events and projects like The Heart Grows Fonder and Photographer Writer Illustrator, we’ve tried to encourage photography to play nicely alongside other creative disciplines. These sorts of collaborations have spawned some of the most exciting bodies of works, personal reactions and experiments in Miniclick’s last five years. With that in mind, and to coincide with the launch of […]

Event: Cut & Paste

May 18, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

Working with Tate Liverpool, Light Night Liverpool and LOOK/15, Miniclick created CUT & PASTE, a new participatory event that responded to the Tate’s exhibition of György Kepes’ work. We were invited by LOOK/15 to host the event at Tate on their launch night which also coincided with Liverpool’s Light Night. Located in the gallery, amongst Kepes’ work, and opening on Friday 15th May 2015, we proceeded to make a beautifully chaotic mess as almost 400 visitors in one evening (and a further […]

Event: Now We Also Live Nicely – Tues 9th June, 2015

May 11, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

“Now We Also Live Nicely” – What can photography do for us today? Miniclick and the final year students of the BA Documentary Photography course at USW Newport present an evening of discussion on photography, where it is now and where it’s heading. It’s never been easier for photographers to present their ideas in a myriad of different ways than it is today, and in this panel discussion we’ll be talking to a group of people who are working at […]

Talk: Annie Collinge – Tues 12th May

April 14, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

Earlier this year we picked up a copy of Annie Collinge’s “Five Inches of Limbo” – a photobook that combined beautiful and humourous photographs with a design to match. It became an early runner in Miniclick Towers for photobook of the year. Annie is a former Brighton student, so we we already aware of her great work, and we’re delighted to bring her back to Brighton so she can talk to us about her photography in more detail. +++ Tuesday 12th May. Doors […]

Event: The Miniclick Soapbox – Tues 26th May

April 13, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

Miniclick are based in Brighton but we like to think we travel well. We’ve hosted events all over the UK, plus a memorable discussion in Sierra Leone. Of course, London has been an occasional second home so we’re pleased to announce a new regular event we’ll be holding at The Dissenting Academy in Dalston, London –  The Miniclick Soapbox. Each time we’ll feature a new lineup of 5 photographers who will take the stage to do short talks (under 7mins) on […]

Talk: Dafna Talmor, Lucia Pizzani and Esme Horne – Mon 27th April

February 24, 2015 by Bryony Good

Throughout photographic publications, degree shows and exhibitions we are seeing a growing leaning towards the abstract within contemporary photography. Hand in hand with this movement is a growing interest in vintage and analogue techniques, as if practitioners are looking backwards in order to explore new ground with the medium. Dafna Talmor, Lucia Pizzani and Esme Horne all in their own way explore the innovative and experimental techniques that are beginning to shape this field. We are very pleased to have all three […]
