Talk: Catharsis with Dulcie Wagstaff and Martin Seeds, 14th August

July 15, 2017 by Bryony Good

This month Miniclick explores catharsis with Dulcie Wagstaff and Martin Seeds. Artistic practice is within itself a process of working through emotions. Photography not only allows the photographer to go through this process but often records others going through this process. Both of our speakers this week explore different sides of this and the emotional relationship between photographer, subject, and the act of photographing. +++ Monday 14th August 2017. Doors at 6pm, kicks off at 7pm.  The Old Market, Brighton.  Free Entry. […]

Talk: Photography and Sculpture – 24th April, 2017

March 16, 2017 by Bryony Good

For April’s photography talk we are focusing on photography’s ever growing relationship with sculpture. The physicality of photography is becoming a subject that’s being explored more and more as the digital world evolves and seemingly takes over. We have invited photographers working to contradict this assumption to come and tell us how they work physically with photographs. +++ Monday 24th April, 2017. Doors at 6pm, kicks off at 7pm.  The Old Market, Brighton.  Free Entry. +++ James Murray Drawing upon a range […]

November 2, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

I / LAND is a new collaboration between Miniclick and Portrait Salon to create all-day events in London and Tokyo to coincide with Portrait Salon’s fifth anniversary. The I / LAND project is a participatory, submissions-based event that culminates in a community day of book making, combining the submissions from Portrait Salon 2015 with a series of submitted seascapes, texts and illustrations; engaging with the idea of the UK and Japan as island nations. I / LAND forms part of […]

Event: Cut & Paste

May 18, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

Working with Tate Liverpool, Light Night Liverpool and LOOK/15, Miniclick created CUT & PASTE, a new participatory event that responded to the Tate’s exhibition of György Kepes’ work. We were invited by LOOK/15 to host the event at Tate on their launch night which also coincided with Liverpool’s Light Night. Located in the gallery, amongst Kepes’ work, and opening on Friday 15th May 2015, we proceeded to make a beautifully chaotic mess as almost 400 visitors in one evening (and a further […]

Event: Photographs Rendered in Play Doh

October 22, 2014 by Jim Stephenson

Lats Saturday we had a great day at The Miniclick Business Concern to launch Eleanor MacNair’s ‘Photographs Rendered in Play Doh‘, with Eleanor, MacDonaldStrand and Photomonitor. People were invited along to recreate their favourite photograph in Play Doh and we had over 50 renderings made during the day (which were then all rolled up into one big blob at the end). Thanks to all those who came along – we’ll be making a ‘zine from all the submissions soon…
