Bill Kelly on the work of Keith Medley

September 6, 2013 by Jim Stephenson

Bill Kelly (right) and his brother, Liverpool, 1965 – Keith Medley  Earlier on in the year we at Miniclick were invited up to LOOK//13 to host a couple of short talks. During the down time before the events started the Miniclick team had a chance to experience the goings on within Liverpool’s buzzing photography scene. It was during this downtime that we discovered Ken Grant & Mark Durden’s curated exhibition of Keith Medley’s portraits. Keith Medley was primarily a press […]

Giles Duley / Tues 15th Oct

September 3, 2013 by Jim Stephenson

Last Spring a video of Giles Duley doing a TED Talk in London went online. The video appeared all over the place on social media a quite a few Miniclick regulars sent it to me and asked if we could get Giles down to do a talk for us. Giles’ very eloquent thoughts on why the story is the most important thing in photography echoes with a lot of the conversations we have behind the scenes at Miniclick. The video […]

August 11, 2013 by Jim Stephenson

On Wednesday 14th August we’ll be launching Publication#2 – the second in the series of our publications. This time around, it’ll be looking specifically at portraiture, with a whole month of portrait based talks and events preceding the launch. You can read all about it here. On the run up to launch night, the Miniclick team (or at least, the team who are currently in the UK – hope the homeland is treating you well Kristina!) have chosen one of […]

23/07/2013 Miniclick + Portrait Salon

June 21, 2013 by Jim Stephenson

As part of our portrait month, we’ve continued our collaboration with Portrait Salon, a form of Salon de Refusés which aims to show the best of the 6000+ unselected portraits for the Taylor Wessing Prize each year. We worked with Portrait Salon founders James O Jenkins and Carole Evans last year as part of our Brighton Fringe programme, and we thought they’d be the perfect partners for an event during portrait month at The Old Market. James and Carole have curated a great […]

13/07/2013 – Tim Andrews

June 21, 2013 by Jim Stephenson

In 2005 Tim Andrews was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, left his job as a solicitor and turned himself into a living art project. Over the past six years he has been photographed by 250 different photographers in one of the most comprehensive and moving portraiture projects of recent years. Back in March we did a full day event with Firecracker to launch our Women in Photography month (culminating in Publication#1 being issued). This full day event with Tim is part […]

01/05/2013 – Brighton MA Photography Pecha Kucha

April 2, 2013 by Jim Stephenson

Last year we got together with the Brighton University MA Photography course to put on a Pecha Kucha night, with each member of the course doing a short talk on their work on the same night. It went so well, that we’ve decided to do it again with the new batch of final year students. Pecha Kucha is a lively format of presentations, whereby each photographer is restricted to 20 slides and 20 seconds on each slide, resulting in a […]
