October is all about photobooks! As BOP, Bristol’s photobook festival, has recently taken place, for this month’s talk we would like to present Stephanie-Francis Shanahan who is a self published artist & photographer. Shanahan will be sharing her practice and discussing her work in relation to the medium of photobook, and her experiences of self publishing.
The audience will be able to ask questions at the end of her talk and have a chance to look at Shanahan’s self-published books.

Stephanie Francis Shanahan is an artist and photographer from London with Irish heritage. Her practice focuses on collective emotion and the cathartic nature of collage; Stephanie is interested in building a deeper understanding of how to best co-exist together with a focus on joy and the radical act of experiencing happiness in the face of political/social oppression. She received a Space Studios artist award in 2021 and has self-published three artist books which have received press from The Face and i-D and are stocked in shops including MagCulture, Village and Reference Point.
Stephanie’s work records her daily life and connections with other humans to celebrate working-class achievements and strengths. She is neurodivergent and interested in the accessibility of the art world and the ways in which we can communicate most effectively. In December 2020, Stephanie completed an MA in Fashion Image from Central Saint Martins. She was recently a member of the Hyper Banality Fan Club online artist group and she is in the School of The Damned 2022.
