Talk: Jane Hilton – Mon 23rd March

January 30, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

In 2010 we got hold of a copy of ‘Dead Eagle Trail’, a photographic documentation of America’s 21st century cowboys. It remains one of our favourite photobooks and we’re delighted to say that the photographer behind it, Jane Hilton, is coming to Brighton to give a free talk on her work and screen one of her documentaries produced with the BBC. +++ Monday 23rd March. Doors at 6pm, kicks off at 7pm. Free Entry at The Old Market, Brighton. Free Entry. +++ Jane Hilton, […]

Talk: Milo Belgrove and Chris Nunn – Tues 24th Feb, 2015

January 16, 2015 by Jim Stephenson

Around this time last year we saw the protests in Maiden Square, Kiev in full swing, with photographers from all over the world descending to document the troubles. Chris Nunn and Milo Belgrove were two photographers who headed out as well, Chris to continue his work in the country, and Milo for the first time. They both chose to photograph a different side of a country in flux, focusing on the people and life continuing against a tumultuous backdrop. We’re very pleased […]

Day 6 – The Miniclick Photobook Advent Calendar, 2014

December 6, 2014 by Jim Stephenson

Another day and the Grand Miniclick Photobook Advent Calendar rolls on with our regular writer Alexander Norton taking us through Paul Graham’s ‘Does Yellow Run Forever’… The colour yellow has a host of connotations. These are not obvious by any means. Yellow cooperates with gold and gold implies a kind of value. So when considering the question ‘Does Yellow Run Forever?’ we are posed an incredibly in depth answer in return. Paul Graham’s practice has always made us work for the meaning and […]

Interview: Spectrum

November 2, 2014 by Jim Stephenson

This year, during Brighton Photo Fringe for our ‘Another Way of Looking’ programme, we hosted an exhibition of Louis Porter’s ‘The Anatomy of Business’. The show was very kindly sponsored by Spectrum, who printed and mounted the works for us and helped guide us along the way to make sure the final prints were as good as they possible could be. We interviewed them about their unique insight into what goes into an exhibition and who is doing what right […]

Interview: Louis Porter

October 23, 2014 by Jim Stephenson

Our second exhibition of our Another Way of Looking programme, alongside Brighton Photo Fringe and Biennial, comes from ABC photographer Louis Porter with his “Anatomy of Business” body of work. One of our writers, Martha Morley, spoke to Louis about the body of work… I was excited to interview Louis Porter, about his latest exhibition Anatomy of Business which “examines the visual language of business through the appropriation of an archive of 1980’s financial newspaper photographs, acquired by the artist in […]
